Welcome to 2021, Cancer. Congrats on surviving 2020. As an adaptable water sign who deeply cares for those around you, you may have found yourself stepping up to be a rock for those around you during this difficult year. This could mean checking in on loved ones, getting involved in anti-racism activism, or organizing socially-distanced holiday plans. While you did a lot of good work, it's possible you put your own self-care on the back burner. As we collectively start to heal in 2021 as a society, your duty is to focus on yourself.
Uranus will be in Taurus all year, in your 11th House of Friends. The eccentric planet squares off with Saturn in Aquarius on Wednesday, February 17, again on Monday, June 14, and finally on Friday, December 24. These transits only occur every 22 and a half years and signify clashes of power between conservative ideas and more progressive and radical politics. On a personal level, this means you will likely be taking a hard look at your relationships. Are there some friends, lovers, or family members with whom you just don't mesh well? Are you maintaining ties simply to keep the peace or try to be a good person? You have to stop. Enough is enough. Live by your principles and redirect that energy into the healthy relationships that mirror your values.
Because you are ruled by the moon, you will always be a bit more nostalgic than most.
The first Mercury retrograde of the year occurs in Aquarius from Saturday, January 30 to Saturday, February 20. The communication planet goes retrograde again in Gemini from Saturday, May 29 to Tuesday, June 22, and in Libra from Monday, September 27 to Monday, October 18. During these times, follow the usual rules of double-checking emails and triple-checking any important documents. Of all the signs, Cancer, you tend to be the most likely to reach out to an ex. Because you are ruled by the moon, you will always be a bit more nostalgic than most. This year, however, you're learning to be more independent and stand on your own two feet. During the Mercury retrograde, try not to slide into an ex's DMs. Put that energy into yourself and keep your eyes forward instead.
Cancer season officially begins on Sunday, June 20. If it's possible to do so safely, consider celebrating your birthday by traveling alone, or buy yourself something you've been eyeing for a while, no matter how small. You may not be able to have the party you normally have by this time next year, but you can still let other people celebrate you. You deserve to be loved and acknowledged.
Try to allow yourself to fully blossom this year, unrestrained by the demands of everyone around you.
There is a solar eclipse in Gemini on Thursday, June 10, one on Wednesday, May 26 in Sagittarius, a lunar eclipse on Friday, November 19 in Taurus, and a solar eclipse on Saturday, December 4 in Sagittarius. All eclipses may bring drama and shake-ups, so if you want to avoid any of that, lay low during these dates. In particular, you may want to circle the one occurring in Taurus on Friday, November 19, which falls in your 11th House of Friendship. This may bring the end of a friendship, perhaps one with an ex. While friend breakups are painful, especially for Cancers, know that this will only make room for new lovers and friends that are even more compatible with who you are now. Try to allow yourself to fully blossom this year, unrestrained by the demands of everyone around you; to do so, you'll need to rid your life of any toxic relationships.
Venus, the planet of love, beauty, and abundance goes retrograde on Sunday, December 19, in hardworking Capricorn, your 7th House of Partnership. When Venus goes retrograde, romance usually takes a nosedive, and everyone worries about their love life. However, this transit may signify a fresh new romance or a deeper commitment in an existing one. You spent most of the year getting in touch with yourself and firming up boundaries. Retrogrades allow us to review certain areas of our life, and for you, sweet Cancer, you may realize you're finally in a place to let someone special in. Stay safe and see you next year.
