According to a new study, a whopping 4.3 million men in the UK experience erection dysfunction, commonly known as impotence.
The common penis problem is in inability to get or keep an erection firm enough to have sex.
Many men experience ED during times of stress, but not all of them are doing something about it.
In light of International Men’s Day today, new research conducted by VIAGRA Connect showed that a staggering 44% of blokes don’t want to resolve the problem of impotence.
Almost a third (29%) of men over 40 have never confided in their partners about the condition and chose to suffer in silence.
Meanwhile, nearly a quarter (24%) of men over 40 have not told their other halves about their erectile dysfunction because they felt ashamed.

To help combat the problem, VIAGRA Connect has launched a film series, Love at First Site, which takes two couples back to where they fell in love to talk about ED.
They discuss the impact that ED has had on their relationship, as well as the benefits of finding a solution.
What is clear about the films is that being able to find a solution can have a positive impact on men’s mental health.
The study found that men who dealt with erectile dysfunction were feeling happier (31%), while 28% felt more confident within their relationships.
Louis, one of the men profiled in the Love at First Site film series, said: “It took me a while to open up to Joanne (my partner) about my erection problems – so much so that she even thought I was having an affair at one point.
“Dealing with erection problems together has only made our relationship stronger and I am so pleased I finally discussed the issue with Joanne and sought help.
“That’s exactly why I wanted to share my story – to encourage other men that might be going through the same thing to know it’s very common, and nothing to be ashamed of.”

What causes erectile dysfunction?
1. Medical conditions
Certain conditions, like heart disease, could often be the culprit when it comes to erectile dysfunction.
ED symptoms may occur earlier than those of heart disease due to cardiovascular issues like atherosclerosis.
2. Emotional distress
Problems within a relationship can often be the issue as stress could lead to struggling in the bedroom.
Depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, guilt and fear of sexual failure are all contributing factors.
Certain medications may make it difficult for you to maintain your erection, like antidepressants or blood pressure medications.
While these drugs may treat a condition, they all increase the risk factor of erectile dysfunction.

4. Lifestyle choices
Smoking, binge drinking or drugs are more likely going to increase the chances of the penis problem.
However, eating foods in flavonoids, like blueberries, could reduce the risk of ED.
5. Physical injury
Exercise is great for the health but any type of injury in the lower half of your body could cause erection dysfunction.
Research published today revealed that men living in London are most likely to experience erectile dysfunction.
